The mallikarjuna jyotirlinga is situated on the Shri shila mountain near Krishna river in the southern part of Andhra Pradesh.
It is mentioned in the Shiva Purana that the Lord shiva lived on this mountain as a jyotirlinga by the name mallikarjuna for his son Kartikeya.
‘Mallika’ means ‘Parvati’ while ‘Arjuna’ is another name of Lord Shiva. It is believed that whosoever see the tip of the mountain one is liberated from all sins and becomes free from the cruel cycle of life and death

This temple is situated on the bank of the river Shipra in the Mahakal forest, Ujjain.
